The Power of Intention

Setting an intention each morning is one of the most powerful things you can do to shape your day and your life. Successful people understand the importance of intention and use this powerful tool to create great success.


On a neurological level – setting an intention each day creates new brain pathways, telling your brain the outcomes you expect to see. Each day you set the intention it will be easier for your brain to match these thoughts with similar more helpful thoughts. In other words the more you practice the thoughts you would prefer to have, the easier it is becomes. As scientists have discovered “neurons that fire together, wire together”.


On a metaphysical level – setting an intention creates vibrational frequency, calling towards you the outcome you wish to achieve. When you focus on what you want, you are asking the universe to deliver and the universe always delivers, it may not be straight away but it will deliver, as long as you maintain this intention and avoid blocking it by having consistently “resistant” thoughts. The easiest way to avoid resistant thoughts is to begin by starting with simple/easy intentions (see examples below).


When setting intentions on bigger subjects do not be hard on yourself when you have resistant thoughts as this will most likely happen, after all you have been practicing resistant thoughts for quite some time. The important thing is to remember is that with practice it will become easier. It is like a muscle in the body, the more you practice using it, the stronger it will become. The stronger it becomes the more success you will experience in life.

 

Set a simple intention each morning:

·         Today I will go outside and take a few deep breathes at every opportunity

·         Today I will look for opportunities to appreciate the smallest things

·         Today I will look for more joy

·         Today I am focusing on feeling good, no matter what happens

·         Today I expect to have fun

·         Today I will make everyday activities more joyful

·         Today I will look for humour throughout the day

·         Today I will look up at the sky and marvel at the magnificence of the universe

·         Today I will play/sing/dance, even if just for a few moments

·         Today I am open to new opportunities

·         Today I will look for things that make me smile
